Hopson leads Rhinos’ victory charge

Ryans Rhinos are plotting a promotion charge this season as they continued their impressive start in the Wolverhampton Sunday League.

Rhinos had VW Warriors on the run to make it three wins from three outings in Division Three with Dan Hopson leading the way.

He bagged a hat-trick in the 9-1 success that leaves Rhinos second on goal difference behind free-scoring Sandwell Athletic. Craig Radcliff and Alex Banks added to Hopson’s haul with two goals each while Jak Allen and Warren Beards netted one apiece.

Sandwell took their goal tally to 26 in three games courtesy of a 9-0 triumph at Kings Arms.

Two goals from Curtis Smith plus singles from Ashley Sage and Marcus Flint saw Woodman Inn to a 3-2 home win over AFC Bradmore while Coseley Tavern were 3-1 winners at Sporting Phoenix United.

Tettenhall extended their unbeaten start to three games following a 4-1 home victory over Saint Michael Sunday.

Mark Giles was the top performer with a treble. Ryan Davies added Tettenhall’s other goal. Saint Michael replied through Tomek Zapotderky.

Russell Athletic went down 4-2 at home to Hill Top Rangers.

AFC Bentlands are setting a blistering pace in Division Four after chalking up their third straight win.

They took their goal tally to 27 with a 14-1 success at ECC United.

There was a dramatic finish to the clash between Golden Lion and Balls to Cancer.

The game was level at 1-1 going into added time – Nathan Gutteridge scoring for B to C and Kyle Matthews for Lion.

Si Stokes then looked to have settled the game in Lions’ favour but one dramatic late twist saw James Miles scramble home an equaliser.

Health Direct were left feeling under the weather after crashing to a 4-1 defeat at Wednesfield Conservative.

Liam Whittaker (two), Nicholas Smith and an own goal saw the hosts to victory. Health Direct’s reply came from Decrri Willey.
