Andy Parkes wants more of the same at Darlaston Town
Darlaston Town boss Andy Parkes has challenged his side to maintain their early season standards.
Parkes’ side have made a hugely encouraging start to life in the West Midlands League Premier Division following last season’s promotion-winning campaign.
Two wins and two draws from five matches has seen then climb to fourth in the early standings ahead of tomorrow’s tough assignment at Wolverhampton Casusals.
Successive 4-0 and 5-0 wins over Black Country Rangers and Wem mean they will travel in confident mood and Parkes will be demanding no let up in work rate.
“I have to give credit to the lads for the last two performances because they have been exceptional,” said Parkes.
“But we are not going to get carried. We know we have to keep working hard.
“Cassies are a good side and one of the favourites for promotion. I know Dean Gill and he has a done a good job there, just as he did at Wednesfield.
“It will be another tough game but as we are finding out, there are no easy ones in this division. I think any side is capable of beating any other one.
“We have set our standards and the players know what is expected of them.
“We will keep working hard because we want to continue to push the club forward.”
In Division One, Dean Tranter will take charge of Gornal Athletic for their home clash with Team Dudley.
Tranter has stepped up from assistant to interim boss after Ash Causer tended his resignation.
Head of football Jason Tonks has also called time on his spell at Garden Walk with the club inviting applications for both roles.
