Defence earns Geddes salute
Black Country Rangers boss Sean Geddes stated his case for the defence as his side’s impressive start to the season continued.
Rangers secured a fine 2-0 win at Wednesfield to make it seven points from their first three games of the West Midlands League Premier Division season.
“I had received some feedback on Wednesfield and we knew they were a good side and a really hard-working side,”said Geddes.
“But I believed that if we matched their work-rate then we would have enough quality to win the game.
“It was our toughest test of the season and also our best defensive display of the season. I was really pleased with the lads.
“All the things we have worked on in training were put into practice. The defenders worked together and they are taking on board the things we are asking them to do. That’s really pleasing for the coaching staff to see.”
Adam Garmson bagged both goals for Rangers and Geddes is confident his new-look side can build on their opening efforts.
“Before a ball had been kicked, if someone had offered me seven points from the first nine I would have snapped their hand off,” he said.
“I am pleased with how we have started and I know we will only get better.
“Everything is new to us all. We had 22 new players come in during the summer and I’m a new manager.
“The team are gelling well but the more they play together the better they will get. I’m confident we can be up there challenging.
