The youngsters showcased their talents in a summer tournament on the Isle of Wight, where they swept aside their opponents to return home with another piece of silverware.

The triumph added another chapter to the side’s success story and followed on from their superb efforts on the league front which saw them crowned Midland Junior Premier League champions. The MJPL is arguably the top junior league in the area and, under the guidance of coach Chris Hipkin, Brewood powered their way to the title on the back of 18 victories, three draws and just one defeat. Harkin started the side at under-seven level and has seen it develop into one of the strongest in the area.

As well as their league title triumph and Isle of Wight success, the boys have claimed back-to-back successes in the Uttoxeter Rotary 5-a-side tournament, while they also reached the last four of the MJPL Cup and have competed in the prestigious Nationals competition in Nottingham.

“The lads have had an amazing couple of seasons,” said treasurer Emma Greybanks.

“It was their third season in MJPL and it is a fantastic achievement to win the league. It’s a very good standard.

“The boys were in the Walsall League but we moved because we felt the side needed pushing and that it would aid their development, and that has been the case.

“They have also played in the Nationals for the last two years against some of the best sides from across the country and that has been a great experience for them.

“Hopefully they can continue to develop and enjoy more success next season along with the club’s other sides.

“It’s a small club but a very nice one. We will run 13 teams next season from under-seven up to under-15s and we have some good young players.”
