The Black Country side finished fourth in the West Midlands Premier League last season, in what was a successful second season in the top flight.

Working with coach Tim Rudge through their first pre-season, the side have got their summer league started in style.

Opening their account against their West Brom 'B' team, the Premier League side cruised to a comfortable 54-40 win, before blitzing Yardley Defenders 76-35 in a stunning defensive showing.

That double win clearly opened the floodgates, as in their third game of the competition Rudge's side put in another punishing performance, destroying Birmingham Blazers by a whopping 70 points, 96-26.

West Brom gave themselves a chance at off-season silverware in their penultimate game, beating Spartans 61-54, setting up a potential would-be final against Lordswood on the final day of the competition.

The summer league competition is a simple league format with no knock-out stage involved. Only six teams are entered in the off-season contest, with West Brom and Lordswood the only unbeaten sides remaining.

By circumstance, those two sides go head to head on the final day - so should Lordswood go unbeaten in their games against West Bromwich 'B' and Yardley Defenders, the game would become a title decider.

West Brom now face an anxious two-week wait until that game, with the clash slated for June 5, tipping off at 9.15pm at Nechells Wellbeing Centre.
