Cole Jr hit a break of 58 to overturn an 18-point deficit heading into the final frame and secure a 424-381 aggregate victory.

Wednesfield had started the game with a 70-point handicap advantage and got off to a great start when John Pugh took the opener to extend the advantage.

Golden Cue needed to hit back and did so when Mark Rollinson won the second frame by 55 points, before Stewart Humphries took another chunk in frame three.

Danny Keating won the next for Wednesfield to give them the advantage heading into the decider but Cole Jr held his nerve to win the day for Golden Cue.

In Division One, Hotshots show no signs of letting up despite already having clinched the title.

The champions brushed aside Landywood SC A 5-0 with Karl Ashmore and Bal Sembi both hitting breaks of 85.

Rob Wharne was also in great form as he helped Stafford Institute A to a 3-2 home win over Cannock Cons A with a break of 81.

The highest break of the week went to Jason Kendrick, who hit a 95 as Pennfields A secured their Division One status with a 3-2 victory over Sedgley WMC C.

It wasn’t all bad news for Sedgley, with wins secured by Stuart Pritchard and Richard Lampitt also ensuring their safety.

Wednesfield Cons A instead became the final team to be relegated after they were beaten 3-2 at home by Baggeridge Social Club.

The Division Two title is yet to be decided, though Woodfield Social A will take a four-point lead into the final week after a 3-2 home win over Kingswinford SC, Ed Jennings hitting a break of 77 in the decider.

Poets Corner A sit second but have now secured promotion thanks to a 3-2 win against Bilston BC B.

The same applies to third-placed Smethwick Labour Club, who lost 3-2 at Shifnal WM B but saw other results go their way.

Several promotion and relegation issues were also decided in Division Three.

Both Goodyear C and Bloxwich Memorial Club secured their sports in Division Two next season.

Goodyear C were 3-2 winners over Bilston S&S A, while Bloxwich confirmed their own promotion with a 3-2 win away at Goodyear B.

At the other end of the table it was bad news for Fordhouses CC A, after a 3-2 defeat at home to Sedgley Ex-Service B.

In Division Four, second-placed Golden Cue E became the second team to be promoted despite not playing as other results went their way.

But the battle for the third and final spot will go down to the final week, with Charlemont BC and Bushbury Grid B both still capable of overhauling Wolverhampton Electric B, who currently sit third.

Charlemont are two points back after beating Bilston S&S C 3-2, though Bushbury were beaten by the same score at Forty Four Club A.

The battle for the Division Five title will go down to the final week, with leaders Bushbury Grid B knowing a win will be good enough after rivals Rugeley SC were beaten 3-2 at home by Fordhouses CC B.

In Division Six, Woodfield Social E need just three frames to secure promotion after beating Fordhouses CC D 3-2. Wednesfield Cons C remain in contention.

The Aldridge Snooker League report will appear tomorrow.
