Grasshoppers put aside the disappointment of losing in the semi-final of the National Indoor Competition at Lord’s to overcome Cound by 10 runs.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing as Cound started strongly, reducing the league champions to 13-3 after impressive spells from Ryan Ashton (3-14) and Tom Quraishi (1-11). But a late order flourish from Andy Harrison (50 not out) helped the Hoppers up to 93-4, with good support from Alex Johnson (19 not out).

Jack Case (27 not out) and Graham Trow (25 not out) got Cound off to the best possible start, but their retirement saw a mini-collapse and a reduction in the run-rate. Some tight bowling by Harrison (0-12) and Johnson (0-20) clinched the double once again for Grasshoppers.
