Hamza Uddin, 15, has been crowned British champion two times and Midlands champion five times

The tournament, which was held at the Magna Science and Adventure Centre in Rotherham, saw the Fearless Boxing Club star beat boxers from the West Ham BC and Woking BC on his way to victory.

There are two boxers from the region who won over the weekend Hamza, who trains at Fearless boxing club, and Cameron Lavery who trains with the Impact boxing club, who won by a split decision.

Uddin’s triumph means he qualifies to represent England at the prestigious Three Nations competition, which sees boxers from England, Scotland and Wales battle it out to become British champion.

The talented 15-year-old has also been selected to join the England Talent Programme, which will see him train at the British Amateur Boxing headquarters in Sheffield with the British coaches who complimented him on his style following his win.

The aim for Uddin now is to get bulked up to the 46kg category where he would be able to fight in the European championships in June.

“We’ll need to get four kilos in him but that should be straight forward, he’s a tall boy but we want to take it all just one step at a time,” said proud father Siraj.

“Hamza has been boxing since he was eight years old and boxes everyday, he is taking it very seriously and he is focussed on his boxing.”

The Three Lions boxing event will take place over the 2-4 May in Cardiff and will feature the National Champion at each AIBA weight.
