Cups clinch part one of their double target
Three Cups proved to be up for the cup as they claimed the spoils in the Wolverhampton Sunday League’s first shootout for silverware of the season.
Cups were flying high after beating fellow Division Four outfit Watton Wanderers 3-0 in the final of the Tom Bird Cup at Wolverhampton Casuals FC.
Ben Moore struck twice for Cups, with man-of-the-match Connor Potts also finding the net.
Cups will now turn their attentions to completing a league and cup double.
They sit two points clear at the top of the table with games in and on all of their rivals.
AFC Jacks remain firmly on course to retain their Premier Division title.
A comfortable 5-1 success at home to Emerald Athletic left Jacks sitting in second place, five points behind Penn Tandoori Sundats but with three games in hand.
Division One champions TK Wanderers chalked up their 15th win in 16 league outings with a 9-1 beating of Balls To Cancer.
Eric Niahi, Connor Pugh and Connor Forrester all found the net in Warstones Wanderers’ 3-0 home victory against AFC Merry Boys.
Bradmore Social were single-goal winners at Punjab United Sports while Royal George and Tettenhall Royal Oak drew 2-2.
Belgrade have the Division Two title in their sights.
Goals from Andrew Turvey and Adam Roberts saw them to a 2-0 triumph at AFC Bradmore, a result which moved them to with three points of leaders Barley Mow Wanderers but with three games in hand.
A Dan Burns double secured three points for Connaught at the expense of UTC.
Burns headed Connaught into a half-time lead with UTC levelling the scores through Lewis Corbett on 70 minutes. But Connaught were not to be denied as Burns bagged the winner with five minutes left.
Tipton Town Sunday moved up to fifth in the standings on the back of a 3-1 success on home soil against Golden Lion.
RG FC are on the verge of clinching the Division Three title.
A 3-1 success at Tettenhall means RG need two points from their last two games to be crowned champions.

Summerhill withstood a spirited fightback from Sporting Phoenix United to claim the points in a thrilling clash that saw them find the net nine times – three of them at the wrong end!
A resounding victory looked on the cards when a hat-trick from Craig Ruston plus strikes from Zac Angel, Jamie Ruston and Reece Pugh put the visitors 6-0 up at half-time.
But Sporting rallied after the break aided by three own goals and one from Wayne Blake before coming up just short in their recovery bid.

Brookes netted four times while Johns grabbed a hat-trick as ECC won 12-1.

The top-of-the-table clash between second-placed Churchill Royal Oak and Castlecroft, who sit third, ended all square at 2-2.

Dylan Hyde was the hero for Rhinos, bagging all the goals in their 3-0 win against GSA Wolverhampton.
Black Country Fusion boosted their bid for a top-two finish with an impressive 6-1 success at Jack’s Bar.
Alex Bendall led the victory charge with a hat-trick.
Richard Finch, Lee Onions and Jonny Chapman added the other goals.
AE Noahs Ark ran out 5-3 winners at home to St Michaels while Punjabi Wolves and Woodman Inn drew 1-1.
There is more cup final action tomorrow when ECC Sports Club take on RG FC in the BP Roberts Cup final.
The clash takes place at Wolverhampton Casuals’ Brinsford Lane base, kick-off 7pm. Admission is £4 adults while children can watch for free.
