The 14-year-old, who swims for Cannock Phoenix, claimed a magnificent seven championship victories across a range of strokes on her way to qualifying for the England National summer meet in Sheffield.

The championships were held over two days at Stafford Leisure Centre with the Wolverhampton Royal School student also landing a superb double by being crowned 50m breaststroke champion in both the junior and senior, which sees swimmers from 15 up to adult competing.

Charley, who lives in Wednesfield, has also qualified for the Midlands Championships in Stafford in May, and has only been competing for three years.

“This is extremely rare if not unprecedented for a 14-year- old to win both the junior and senior titles in the event” said proud dad Patrick Ryan.

“Her coach at Phoenix, Luke Thomas, is hopeful she will do well in the Midlands Championships.”
