Cons streaking ahead with a whitewash victory

Wednesfield Cons whitewashed Willenhall Liberal B to move up to third in the Aldridge & District League Premier Division.

Simon Groves took a close opener before Mitchell Lowbridge made it 2-0 shortly afterwards as he hit an excellent break of 82.

Ben Nicholls made it 3-0 to Wednesfield with his own break of 55 to seal the match win, but the scoring wasn’t finished there as Paul Harrison (37) made it 4-0 before Oliver Spooner took the final frame.

Poets Corner B were also on form as they secured an excellent 4-1 win away at Pelsall Social A. Chris Jones, Peter Hyland, Mark Archer and Kev Richards all picked up wins for the visitors with Pelsall’s only win coming through Riley Parsons (45).

At the other end of the table, Bloxwich Memorial B gave themselves a big boost in their battle for survival as they picked up a great 4-1 win over Landywood SC A to keep themselves seven points clear of the relegation zone with just five matches left to play.

Bloxwich got the match won quickly as they raced off to a 4-0 lead thanks to wins for Joshua Walker, Aaron Gale, Bob Davies and Martin Reilly before Landywood finally got on the scoreboard through Dave Turner as he took the final frame to get his side a solitary point as they remain in mid-table.

In Division One, there was a top against bottom clash as Aldridge Cons C hosted leaders Aldridge Cons A, with the latter coming out on top in a 4-1 win to extend their lead at the summit to five points.

They took the win on the night through Kieron Doogan, Simon Robey, John Mitchell and Mark Westwood.

Aldridge Social Club are now on the verge of promotion from Division Two as they picked up yet another win – this one 4-1 away at Landywood SC B.

There were victories for Rob Brown, Bryn Williams, Jason Green and Matt Warrilow.

Defending champions Daniel Ward and Lee Payne reached the Foursomes Championship final, where they will face Willenhall Libs pair Simon Gough and Andy Price.
