Both the C and A teams progressed with victories over Landywood and Old Hall, writes Mark Poole.

Lee Thomson got Libs C off to a flying start as he wiped the handicap against Landywood in the opening two frames.

Martin Jones (Libs) and Andy Evans took a frame each from their clash before Libs’ Nathan Wood rolled in 43 break to take the opener against Dave Turner to end the contest.

But Turner gained some consolation in the night’s final frame when he knocked in a superb break of 82.

An excellent team performance saw Libs A past the challenge of Old Hall.

Simon Gough took the first two frames but it still left Libs with a sizeable deficit to overcome.

Andy Price swung the match in Libs’ favour as he took frames three and four with breaks of 48, 42, 36 and 36.

Lee Bannister then sealed victory with an excellent display that saw him enjoy runs of of 54, 46, 42 and 38 as Libs triumphed 632-416.

St Johns also progressed with Kane Grigg, Robbie James and Steve Barton all claiming 2-0 victories to see them overcome Golden Cue.

Poets Corner overturned the handicap against Pelsall Social B to book their place in the next round.

Scott Smith knocked in a break of 34 on his way to a 2-0 win for Poets.

Anthony Rhodes (30) and Mark Poole shared the spoils, leaving the scores level going into the final frames, but Poets Mark Archer was on good form, winning 2-0 to see his side through.

Pelsall Social C edged past Amery by 24 points as they won all six frames through Alex Humphries, Stewart Jones and Dave Corbett.

Jack Harris survived a scare to book his place in the semi-finals of the 6 Reds Handicap. Last year’s runner-up edged past Bloxwich Memorial’s Scott Smith by just three points.

Jack however needed snookers in the final frame to turn the overall score around and he wasn’t to be denied as he fought on and managed to get them before clearing the colours to put himself through..

Andy Price knocked in breaks of 46 and 40 on his way to victory against Oliver Spooner.

The remaining match saw Steve Barton beat Bloxwich Memorial’s Mark Poole 227-135, aided by breaks of 42 and 32.

Paul Harrison was in fine form as he continued his push for glory in the Individual Handicap Cup.

Harrison secured a 3-1 win against Spooner with breaks of 81, 54 and 40. Spooner had a run of 37 in reply.

Daniel Ward was another player in good nick as he teamed up with Lee Payne to beat Steve Barton and Harris 3-1 in the quarter-finals of the Foursomes.

Barton and Harris took the opening frame, but that was as good as it got for them as Ward and Payne hit back to take the next three, aided by impressive breaks of 88 and 67 by Ward.

There was no joy for Aldridge in the Inter Town Championship as they bowed out of the competition on the back of a 5-2 defeat to Gornal.

Nathan Wood and Simon Gough won for Aldridge with Ash Sidaway, Jason Hickman, David Hall, Ade Ojelay and Eliott Bastable triumphing for Gornal.
