Robinson doubles up to down the table-toppers

Beacon League Paycare Development leaders Bloxwich Rangers suffered a first loss of the season as they fell to a 3-1 reverse at AFC Sporting Gornal, writes Dave Clinton.

A tight first half saw the teams level 1-1 at the break with Jason Robinson hitting home an all-important second period double to clinch the win for Gornal, who climbed into second spot.

AFC Springfield were deserved 4-0 winners away to lowly Norton Canes with Joe Scott, Mitchell Pountney, Jordon Norris and Umaad Rehman all finding the target.

FC Premier collected all three points from visitors Coven United with a Hayden Deeming notching a decisive two-goal salvo to add to singles for Curtis Bullock and Harry Rickard. Coven replied through James Gayden and Leighton Wilson.

High-riding Dudley Rangers United and Trysull Tigers had to settle for a point apiece from a rare 0-0 scoreline with Dudley being left to rue a last-minute penalty miss.

Beacon Lions took the honours in the Redbox Signmakers Beacon Championship with a well merited 4-0 win over FC Premier.

A rampant first-half show earned Lions a three-goal interval lead. Jason Wood, Thomas Rutherford, Anton Rickards and Reece Dabbs were the men on the mark.

Highest scorers of the day were Claregate Park Rangers. They moved up to third place with a resounding 9-0 win at Cannock United helped by doubles from Simon Stokes, the evergreen Kyle Mathews and Kevin Haughton.

Codsall Station and Five Ways were well-matched and secured a point each after 1-1 draw which had Dominic Leeson replying to a Five Ways 15th-minute opener from James Gadd.

Second-placed Kurdish United went behind three times at in-form Shere Punjab and it needed a three-goal display from Sarhang Rawf to secure them a 5-3 win from an absorbing encounter.

League leaders Dynamo Dudley inflicted a first league defeat of the campaign on Sedgley and Gornal United who went down 6-1. Kyle Carter struck twice to add to singles for Shawn Devonport, Ryan Mills, Luke Mcdonall and Joe Colley.
