Draw specialists look to climb table

Liam McDonald hopes a flurry of returns can help Rushall Olympic kick-start their season with a derby-day triumph at Halesowen Town tomorrow (3pm).

The Pics are fourth-bottom of Southern Central, despite suffering defeat in just two of their eight league matches so far.

Five draws have hindered Rushall’s progress, but McDonald will welcome back Michael Townsend, Simeon Maye, Josh Hawker and Liam Truslove to the fold when they take on John Hill’s Yeltz at The Grove.

“We are in good form and as much as we’ve been picking up draws, we’ve been getting better in terms of performance,” said McDonald, whose side are only six points shy of the play-off positions in a very tight division. “If we can go and get some back-to-back wins, it changes our start.

“It’s a tough league and we are one of the smallest in it, but as much as we haven’t had the greatest of starts, we are not a million miles off and still in touch with everyone. If this is our bad patch, then other teams will have theirs at a later date and it will be a chance for us to kick on.”

In the Northern Premier, Stafford Rangers host Scarborough Athletic, while struggling Chasetown go looking for victory in Northern One West at Ramsbottom.
