In-form Parker makes it two wins on the spin

Stourbridge-rod Sam Parker led a Stevens Tackle one-two-three in the Match Lake Open at Wassell Grove Fisheries.

Parker secured his second win on the bounce at the Hagley venue when he struck from peg 45.

Initially fishing the long pole to the island before switching to the margins later on in the match, Parker netted carp to 12lb, F1s, large stockies and silvers, all tempted on worm and caster for 69-1-0 and a £90 reward.

John Bagley secured second with 36-9-0, pipping Dave Johnson Jnr into third with 34-11-0.

The Railway Section of the Staffs & Worcester Canal in Slade Heath, Coven was the venue for the latest Goodyear AC match, with Neil Turner topping the charts.

After finishing runner-up in the previous match, the Wolverhampton-rod eased to victory on peg five, where he poled caster to net a couple of 1lb 8oz chub plus perch and roach for 12-15-0.

Wednesfield’s Mel Wood took second sport after weighing in 8-1-4, with Wolverhampton’s Bruce Birch (4-11-6) completing the top three.

Jason Evans was the main man in the latest Sportsman AC Open.

The contest was staged on the Metro Bridge Section of the Walsall Canal in Wednesbury with Evans (Browning West Midlands) claimed victory from peg five with a rewarding 17-8-12 top weight of bream and skimmers caught on pole-fished worm and maggot over groundbait.

The next two framers also caught bream and skimmers. Dave Anderson (ZLT Angling Products) took second with 16-1-11 from peg 14, leaving Chris Taylor (Sportsman AC) in third on peg 12 with 13-1-10.

Cannock's Colin Tillet headed the Bridgtown Social AC bout on The Boats and Penkridge Boat Yard Sections of the Staffs & Worcester Canal in Penkridge.

Pole-fishing caster and worm off peg four, Tillet landed 9-11-0 of bream and skimmers.

Next came Andy Mears on peg one with 6-11-8, followed by Phil Blakemore with 6-4-6 from peg 12.
