Three weeks of knockout competition paved the way for a day of keenly-contested finals in the midst of the current heatwave, with Thacker taking centre stage as she netted a hat-trick of titles.

Thacker kicked off her winning streak by beating Kate Sheldon to claim the ladies’ title.

She then partnered Jas Perks to defeat Sandra Squires and Anne de Prez in the ladies’ doubles showdown.

And she duly completed her hat-trick of titles with mixed doubles partner Sam Wicks as they won through against Phillips and Perks in the final of that competition.

Greg Phillips also had cause for celebration after walking away with two pieces of silverware.

He defeated Luke Mockler to claim the mens’ singles crown and then teamed up with Matt Wiley to win the doubles final against John Mockler and Dennis Degville.

“The sun shone, there was some incredible tennis on show, and it was a superb day,” said Dominique Nield, chair of the club.

“There was wonderful support from members and their families and that is what defines us as a club.

“It was great to see members of all ages coming together at one of our key annual events and contributing to an enjoyable occasion.”
