They beat Harborne 40-10 at the County Ground on Saturday, after a 32-22 triumph at Handsworth on the opening day.

The club held an old players’ reunion prior to the game so there was a large crowd.

And a minute’s silence for former players and long-time club members Chic Morrice, Dai Bryant and John Perry – who all passed away recently – took place before the clash started.

The referee’s whistle had barely faded when a blistering run by Stafford’s Callum Jones resulted in the first try of the afternoon.

Harborne were not being allowed to settle and Angus Lennon bewildered them with two sidesteps before freeing Gaz O’Connor for the home side’s second try, converted by Louis Dewsbury.

Jones quickly went over again, with Dewsbury adding the extras, but the away side cut the deficit with two unconverted tries before the break.

Stafford pulled away in the second period and Ben Pryce got the bonus point try, Dewsbury converting.

The affair was wrapped up with scores from Callum Lennon and Oli Greatholder – Dewsbury adding the extras with his boot.

They head to Shrewsbury, who are yet to win, on Saturday.

Also in the division, Burntwood enjoyed a 33-3 success at Barton-under-Needwood.

Cannock won 42-29 at Uttoxeter, and Willenhall beat Shrewsbury 30-13.

This weekend, Willenhall travel to Burntwood and Cannock host Barton.
