The 15-year-old from Cannock became the youngest winner of the event following a dramatic play-off success against Featherstone teenager Will Dunn.

The cream of the area’s junior golfers took part as 80 young hopefuls teed off on the Henry Cotton-designed short course with various age group categories as well as the overall title up for grabs.

A strong finish saw Pritchard sink three consecutive birdies to finish on 52 gross, which was enough to win the 13-15-year-old title and ultimately force the play-off against Duun, who had also scored gross 52 to claim the 16-18 spoils.

Pritchard then clinched overall glory at the second extra hole.

She said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the competition at 3 Hammers. I relished the experience of being in my first play-off.

“I would to thank American Golf for sponsoring the tournament and all the organisers. It was nice to see girls and boys from as young as five, taking part. I look forward to playing again next year.”

The youngest winner on the day was George Johnson, who triumphed in the six-eight competition.

Both the 9-10 and 11-12 categories were claimed by golfers who play out of 3 Hammers.

Ronnie Groves successfully defended his 2016 title to become lift the 9-10 trophy while Joshua Jones, who won the 11-12 competition, was a very popular winner after being a runner-up many times before.

A delighted Jones said: “I’ve played the competition since 3 Hammers started it and never came close to winning, so it was great to win it this year.”

Ian Bonser, owner of the award-winning 3 Hammers complex, said: “This is a very special event for us and for the young golfers in our region. It’s a real celebration of golf.

“Everyone taking part absolutely loves the game and you can see how much enjoyment it gives them to take part.

“We’re so delighted to crown Georgia our 2017 champion. She’s our youngest champion and is one to watch for the future.”
