At the league’s annual meeting the Beacon Championship runners-up collected the annual Fair Play award.

Three other trophies were handed out by league chairman Brian Lester, including the leading goalscorer award to Kyle Thorp, of newcomers FC Premier, who struck no fewer than 53 goals last term. John Drew was voted referee of the year.

Secretary of the year was Adam Long of Old Cross Athletic, who finished a creditable fifth in their first campaign. Picking up the Hospitality award were Pensnett Panthers, who secured fourth spot in the main league programme and were beaten Martyn Chell Cup finalists.

And talking of the Martyn Chell Cup, the league is looking for a new sponsor for this competition. Any local business or individual wishing to support the event should contact general secretary David Clinton on 07964 730275. He is also the contact for teams still wishing to join the Beacon league, with places still available.

The election of league officials for next season saw founder members Clinton (general secretary) and Lester (chairman) re-elected.

Other officers are, Mel Eves (president), Simon Cater (vice-chairman/league secretary), Roger Brindley (treasurer), Phil Felton (referees appointment secretary), Martyn Chell (match report form secretary), Malcolm Raybould (registrations secretary), Dave McLean (press officer), Ian Gould (trophy officer), John Rogers, Kathie Gould, Ashok Patel (committee members).

The new league season kicks off on September 3.
