The youngsters are set to represent their club in the county stage of the HSBC-sponsored Road To Wimbledon event.

The tournament, which is backed by the Lawn Tennis Association, is the biggest in Britain for juniors aged 14 and under.

Parsons and Scriven progressed after battling their way through to the final of the club stage at Wollaston.

The winner of the county final then progresses to the national finals at Wimbledon.

The competition provided some excellent tennis and closely-fought matches over a four-hour period at Wollaston. Nearly half the games were decided on a third set championship tie-break.

In the end it was Parsons who took the individual spoils with victory over Scriven in the final.

Charlie Nicholls won the third/fourth play-off match against Bobby Gale.

Wollaston junior chairman Dave Scriven organised the club stage competition and was delighted with how things went.

“This is the first time Wollaston have entered this national competition,” he said. “Our juniors were keen to compete and the club stage was both competitive and enjoyable. The players had a lot of family members supporting them, so it was also a very sociable event too”.
