The Amos Lane side – who have been promoted from Division One of the West Midlands League as runners-up – lifted the Division One Legaue Cup by beating Old Wulfrunians 3-1 in the final at Tipton Sports Academy.

They are now readying up for a JW Hunt Cup semi-final against Highgate United – who play in the Midland Premier, two tiers above Wednesfield – at Castlecroft Stadium tomorrow.

Gill’s charges have another final on Saturday too, against Coton Green for the Birmingham Saturday Vase at Ray Hall Lane.

He said: “We had three chances of winning some cup silverware and it was important and nice to get one out of the way first and win it, everything else now is a bonus.”

“We have got a lot of young lads here but there are some good, experienced ones as well who have really helped them along.

“Our captain Josh Jones came down two divisions from AFC Wulfrunians two years ago as he brought into what we were trying to achieve, and now he has won the cup.”

Looking ahead to the game against Highgate tomorrow (7.30pm), Gill added: “We have watched them a couple of times and they are a big, strong side – very aggressive.

“We have got a plan and we will give it everything we have got – that’s all we can do.”
