Maguire claims the spoils in Bewdley contest

Geoff Maguire topped the charts in the Kidderminster & District AA Float Only Open on the River Severn in Bewdley.

Drawn on peg 72, Maguire (KDAA) banked two barbel and one chub plus roach, perch and dace caught on the whip for an admirable 28-13-0.

Willow Creek's Geoff Brierley came second with 23-3-0 at peg 105, ahead of Dave Foxall (KDAA), who netted 17-2-0 from peg 53 for third place.

Brierley then went one better to win the next open at the same venue by a clear margin of more than 10lb.

He scaled a rewarding 27-0-0 net of all chub, snared on the waggler at peg 50.

Runner-up on peg 29 was Nigel Marchington (Mark's Tackle) with 16-7-0, leaving Phil Baker (Willow Creek) in third with 12-7-0 from peg 32.

The Four Ashes AC Autumn Spectacular Open was held on the prolific Port Lane section of the Shropshire Union Canal in Brewood with Mark Capewell taking the top prize.

Capewell (Browning Lifestyle) netted an impressive 23-15-0 net, comprising of a trio of chub to 3lb, bream between 2½lb and 3lb, backed up by roach and skimmers, all gathered on pole-fished chopped worm and caster from peg 21.

Wednesfield's Mel Wood, Four Ashes AC captain, followed on end peg 22 with 21-6-0. Wood's team-mate Terry Blyde completed the top three with 18-10-0 from peg two.

Alex Dawson headed the 49-entry Heronbrook Fisheries open event, staged across the Meadow and Bridge Pools at the Slindon near Eccleshall complex.

Pole-fishing pellet off Meadow peg 26, Dawson trounced his rivals with a massive 198-0-0 of carp to 8lb and F1s to 3lb.

The next two weights also came off the Meadow with Gerry Lees (Gilder's Tackle) securing second with 153-0-0 from peg 44 and Sam Sharrock taking third with 143-2-0 at peg 38.

Terry Homer claimed a home win in the latest open at Wassell Grove Fisheries.

The Brook Pool saw action and Homer (Wassell Grove) stole the show on peg two with 48-8-0, comprising of 40lb of carp to 4lb, bolstered by 8lb 8oz of mixed silvers, collected on poled pellet, fished to the island.

Wolverhampton's Kev Williams deployed the long pole with pellet off peg 22, to return 30-8-0 of carp and F1s, both to 4lb.

A tie occurred for third when Wassell Grove's Andrew Penn and Gary Clarke (Team Mako) both weighed in 20-4-0. Penn's haul came from peg 11 while Clarke was stationed on peg 20.
