Broadway Swimming Club at their best
Broadway Swimming Club sent records tumbling after a magnificent performance at the Stourbridge Open Sprint Meet.
More than 60 personal bests were shattered as 22 swimmers from the club blew much of their competition out of the water at Wolverhampton Central Baths.
Twenty-four medals were collected by Broadway, who are based at the Barr Beacon Leisure Centre and the University of Wolverhampton, Walsall campus.
There were a total of 64 personal bests set, writes Lewis Cox. Promising star Blake Webb, nine, led the way for the youngsters.
She finishing first in the nine-year boys' 100m individual medley, 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle.
In the aged 10 category boys, Jenson Proctor, 10, swam to success in the 100m IM.
Matthias Henry, (11s category) enjoyed an event to remember landing two wins, in the 100m IM and 50m freestyle.
Adin Kamingira (14s category) won the 50m freestyle while Harriet Shepherd (14s girls category) saw success in the 100m IM.
The youngsters received crystal trophies for their winning performances.
Megan Butler (14s category) enjoyed a fruitful day picking up trophies for her performance in the 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 50m breast stroke.
Two trophies went to Riya Mistry (14s category) for her showing in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.
Callum Bird (10s category) collected a trophy from the 50m butterfly race.
George Pattinson (11s boys) took home three trophies after impressing in the 100m IM, 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke. There were other members of the club who competed in the open.
Elodie Rollins, Georgia Archer, Courtney Bleakley, Amber Catley, Mia Corden, Robyn Dolan, Olivia Hough, Emily Matthews, Mia Perfit, Rhianna-Mae Powell, Natalia Tura, Anne-Marie Wardle and Rhys Peters all featured.
Delighted head coach Alan Bagnall said: "We smashed more than 60 PBs in Wolverhampton. It's going well for us and we have some good swimmers and some good young swimmers in particular."
The club bring the curtain down on their season at the Central Baths on July 16-17 when they meet for the Wolverhampton Open.
The club holds sessions six days a week either at Barr Beacon Leisure Centre or the Walsall campus of the University of Wolverhampton.
