Staffordshire make it successive draws
Staffordshire made it successive draws in the Unicorns Championship after a final-day stalemate against Cumberland at Longton.
Staffs captain Kadeer Ali and Cumberland counterpart Gary Pratt couldn't agree a run chase, after a significant amount of time was lost because of the rain on the opening two days.
That meant both sides were awarded four points each and it ensured the final throes of the Eastern Division clash became a turgid affair with the two counties focusing on bonus points.
Staffs reached a second innings total of 199-2 in 38 overs thanks to 108 not out from Ali, a total which included 15 fours and five sixes, while Alex Thomson hit a run-a-ball 51.
Staffs were 273 all out in 87.5 overs after their first innings after Michael Hill topscored with 95 and Thomson made 49, to which Cumberland replied with 276 from 79.4 overs.
