West Midlands host a title-deciding finale

The West Midlands will stage a shoot-out for the BDO British Inter-Counties Championship Division Two title in their final fixture of the season.

Who will be crowned champions and be promoted will be settled over two days of darts at Gilberts Bar in Willenhall, on the weekend commencing April 23.

London prevailed at home to Worcestershire last weekend, while their second-placed rivals kept up the pace away to Cumbria.

The West Midlands toed the oche at the Pill Memorial Club and it would be the ladies teams who won the match for them, with both men's sides tied.

Both of the women's line-ups won 4-2 to hand the hosts victory by 20-16, gaining three extra points as the winning county.

The result made, at least, the second promotion place almost a certainty, with nine points between them and third-placed Berkshire.

The ladies B affair got them up and running, Samantha Maiden top scoring with 18.45 in a 3-2 last leg win over Roxanne Litherland (18.45).

The spoils were shared 6-6 in the men's B clashes, Robert Smith notching 28.08 for the West Midlands in a 3-1 vanquishing of Wayne Smith (25.72).

The West Midlands extended their lead through the ladies A pairings, Sarah Roberts leading the way with 20.16 over a 3-1 defeat of Mary Paine (16.64).

They protected their advantage with parity in the men's A finale, where play was upgraded to a best-of-seven format.

The home side's Mark Craddock recording the highest average of the weekend, registering 29.78 in a 4-0 whitewash of Michael Sowerby (23.40).
