Wolverhampton Sunday League: Haynes' screamer seals cup success

Lee Haynes saved the best till last as Malthouse booked a place in the next round of the Tom Bird Cup.

Haynes struck with a stunning 30-yard screamer late in the game to seal a 4-2 win against True Briton.

Malthouse had led 1-0 courtesy of a strike from Martin Shaik but then found themselves trailing after an equaliser from Ryan Bourne and penalty from Josh Bradley.

Half-time substitute Brad Wall dragged Malthouse back on level terms before Haynes took charge.

He fired his side into a 3-2 lead before rounding the scoring off in style.

UTC also made progress following an action-packed tie at Sedgley Phoenix.

Steven Jones and Callum McNally were the star turns for UTC as they both bagged hat-tricks in a 6-4 success.

Sedgley's Ollie Davies also grabbed a treble with Jason Wood adding their other goal.

Belgrade and and Wombourne Athletic enjoyed comfortable wins.

Belgrade beat Royal George 3-0 while Wombourne saw off Claregate Revolution 4-1.

Wrottesley needed extra-time to see off Essington WMC.

Lee Powner (two), Oliver Harris and Luke Moseley scored for Wrottesley as they triumphed 4-2.

Essington replied through Jack Jeyes and Shane Salter.

Super sub Tom Lane fired Emerald Athletic Old Boys into the next round.

Lane climbed off the bench to score twice as Emerald beat Churchill Rovers 2-0.

Newhampton Wolves cruised through in the GA Evans Cup courtesy of a 5-0 success at Wombourne Pool Bar.

Otter and Vixen overturned a 2-1 half-time deficit to beat Lanesfield Old Boys 3-2.

Cottage Spring Strollers shaded a seven-goal Ken Pemberton Cup thriller with Sedgley United.

Tom Bennett (two), Jack Knowles and Brandon Garbett bagged the goals that saw Strollers through.

Andy Jones proved handy in front of goal as Chestnut romped to a 7-1win over Wednesfield 86 in the BP Roberts Cup.

Jones hit the net four times with Sam Corbet (two) and Adam Meehan joining him on the scoresheet.

Daniel Burns grabbed Wednesfield's consolation.

Frying Pan Darlaston triumphed 4-3 on penalties against Wolverhampton Sports GNG Wednesfield.

Adam Cole, Lee Rogers and Josh Adams had netted for Frying Pan as the game ended 3-3 after extra-time.

Jacks Bar were edged out 2-1 by SWL Spartak at home while Bradley White Hart put four without reply past Wolfies Bar.

In Division One, Wonder Vaults bagged the points following a 3-0 success against HUF UK.

Captain Nathan Jackson scored on his return from injury to put Vaults 1-0 up with Nathan Dodd and Gee Singh adding the others.

Gareth Hadden and Aaron Fellows found the net to earn Spills Meadow a share of the spoils in their Division Three clash with Chillington.

Balls to Cancer gave their Division Four promotion bid a boost with an away-day success at Saracens Head.

Two goals each from Wayne Lewis and Glenn Collings saw the third-placed visitors triumph 4-2.

Steelmans started the brighter and took the lead when Daniel Hopson fired home a free-kick.

That advantage was increased when Alex Banks side-footed home a second.

But a switch in formation paid dividends for Barley as they came roaring back after the break.

James Malpass capitalised on a goalkeeping error to cut the deficit and then struck again moments later to level the scores and complete the comeback.
