Rushall Olympic out of cup after extra-time loss to Leamington
Rushall Olympic missed out on the chance of a FA Trophy derby tie with Hednesford Town after going down to an extra-time winner against Leamington.
Pics had levelled the second round replay late on but bowed out of the competition when Ben Mackey scored the winner for the visitors in the first period of extra time last night.
Jamie Hood scored the opener for Leamington after 47 minutes, firing home after some slack defending from the home side.
Richard Sneekes' men missed a penalty, given in controversial circumstances, 10 minutes later when Alex Reid skewed his spot-kick wide. The ref awarded the penalty despite the linesman having apparently flagged for an earlier offside.
But Reid made up for that errors soon afterwards with a diving header from Jake Heath's cross.
Leamington re-took the lead on 81 minutes when Lee Moore converted a free kick from 20 yards out.
However, Pics' fighting spirit was in evidence four minutes later when Nick Wright headed in from Carl Palmer's cross.
There was almost a Pics winner seconds before the end when a Kris Taylor effort narrowly went over the bar. That meant extra time but it was agony for Pics as Mackey snatched the victory.
