Dave Edwards: Wolves should have been out of sight at Sheffield United

Wolves have been on a terrific run and spirits have been high among the players, staff and the fans.

Sheffield United's Luke Thomas tackles Wolverhampton Wanderers' Nelson Semedo

And like always, when you see a fixture like this pop up as a Wolves fan, you’re always worrying about a potential banana skin.

You can’t question the application and attitude of the players as in the first half they put in a really good performance.

They were far superior to Sheffield United, they looked leagues apart in quality, but they couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net with so many big opportunities.

Wolves look so dangerous on the counter-attack and Matheus Cunha, who changed his position slightly, was terrific with the positions he was getting into and how he carried the ball.

But he had the first chance, which he blazed over when he should have hit the target. You had the Hwang Hee-chan effort that didn’t quite end up at Rayan Ait-Nouri comfortably and Sasa Kalajdzic had a tap-in behind him.

You’re wondering if it will go Wolves’ way and then Nelson Semedo has a chance, and god only knows why he opted to pass it instead of going for goal.

Wolves could have easily been 2-0 or 3-0 up at half-time and the game would be done and dusted.
