O'Neil guided his side to a 2-1 victory at AFC Bournemouth on Saturday after falling behind to the Cherries.

And the Wolves boss, who took over on the eve of the season, appeared on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football alongside pundit Jamie Carragher.

O'Neil went into detail about how he and his staff identified ways to beat Bournemouth at the start of the international break two weeks ago.

And the Wolves chief also explained how he has to be adaptable in a bid to pick up points against certain sides like Manchester City.

He said: "Since I have taken over the big key for me is being adaptable and flexible.

"My ideal would be, and I'd love to take on Man City and press everything and have 70 per cent of the ball.

"Is that going to happen and we win the game? Probably not.

"So it is about how far away I need to go from my ideal to give us the best chance to win the game.

"When Man City came to us it was nowhere near my ideal, it was low, we didn't have much of the ball but it gave us the best chance to put three points on the board."

O'Neil went into further details on the Bournemouth game and explained how Wolves need a number of different options for different Premier League opposition.

He added: "I have my ideal philosophy and then I have to taper that down every week depending on who are up against.

"How aggressive we can be at the top end of the pitch depends on what match ups we have at the back.

"Craig Dawson has been unbelievable for me, a fantastic defender. But do I want to isolate him with Erling Haaland? No, so we decide we won't press aggressively that day."
