A disgruntled fan base have been left concerned by Wolves’ start to the season – and O’Neil’s job became even harder this week when his side crashed out of the Carabao Cup to Championship side Ipswich.

With Premier League champions City the next visitors to Molineux tomorrow, O’Neil did not understate the task in front of his side.

“Man City are always the worse side to face because they’re the best side in the world,” O’Neil said. “They’re the toughest side to face, but it’s one we’ll look forward to.

“We’ll get our work done and we’ll be fully committed and give absolutely everything again.

“Where you come out from that is a result of many different things. The journey the club has been on in the last few years, where it is now, the work I do with the team, the ability the players manage to show.
