Wolves are in need of an heir to the Ruben Neves throne and Joao Gomes could be just that.
The similarities are quite striking. Neves and Gomes both arrived for £15million as relative unknowns that had already excited supporters before they walked through the doors.
Both players arrived in their early 20s, with Neves 20 and Gomes 21, just shy of his upcoming 22nd birthday.
The wonderkid from Porto has been replaced by the wonderkid from Flamengo. It might not have the same ring to it, but Gomes has all the ability to run the engine room in this Wolves squad next season and beyond.
