Nuno flag hung from Iron Bridge as Wolves fans bid farewell
A supporters' club has bid its own striking farewell to Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo, as he leaves the club after four seasons.
Mark Hadley, who runs the Telford Wolves supporters club, draped a giant flag bearing the Portuguese manager's face from the Iron Bridge.
The flag, seen in away ends as Wolves fans have travelled across the country, bears the words 'Together we are Stronger', and was accompanied by a smaller flag adorned with the name of the supporters' club.
It is not the first time the group has used the landmark setting to show their support for the club and its players, draping a flag from the bridge in 2019 in solidarity with former goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who was forced to retire after his battle with leukaemia.
Nuno's final game in charge of Wolves came at the weekend, as they lost 2-1 at home to Manchester United.
Mr Hadley, who has supported Wolves for more than 50 years, said they wanted to bid their own farewell to the man who transformed the fortunes of the club, taking Wolves from the Championship to a UEFA Cup semi-final.
He said: "The time might have been right for him to leave, who knows, but as a thank you for his integrity and humility, the way he has interacted with Wolves fans, we just wanted to do this."
Mr Hadley added: "He has given us some great memories. A lot of us travelled to all the games across Europe, he gave us that experience. We got to an FA Cup semi-final, we competed with the top six in the Premier League – perhaps we weren't good enough to maintain it but hopefully he has given us the platform to make the next step."
