In a shock statement on Friday, Wolves announced that Nuno would be leaving the club following the conclusion of the season by mutual agreement.

However, in a poll of more than 4,000 supporters, 64 per cent believed that it was a bad decision, with only 36 per cent backing the move.

The news triggered an outpouring of messages thanking the Portuguese boss for his efforts during his four years at Molineux.

He earned promotion back to the Premier League in a stunning debut season, in which the club claimed the Championship title.

Nuno then took the top flight by storm, guiding the club to two consecutive seventh-placed finishes, an FA Cup semi-final and a Europa League quarter-final - losing to eventual winners Sevilla.

This season, the club has been hit severely by numerous injuries, with striker Raul Jimenez missing the majority of the campaign with a serious head injury. Nuno helped lead the club to 12th in the table, winning 12 times.
