Coady and his team-mates are heading to The Hawthorns after losing 3-2 to the Baggies at Molineux in January.

They also go into this big clash on the back of a humiliating 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Burnley, and Wolves’ captain is under no illusions as to just how important this evening is to fans.

“It’s huge, especially with what happened earlier on in the season as well,” said Coady.

“We’ve been focusing on this game since we last played against them because it’s a massive game for this football club, and a massive game for our supporters going into it as well.

“We know how important it is and we know how important coming out the other end with a good result is for our supporters.

“Our supporters are everything to us. We understand the rivalry that there is when it comes to this game and this derby.

“It’s been massive since all them years where we’ve not played West Brom, whether it was us in the Championship or them or in the Championship as well, so we know how big it is and how much we’re looking forward to it as well.

“And obviously there’s the game earlier on in the season that we want to put right as well, so like I say, we’ve looked forward to this game since the last one.”

Coady, having had plenty of time to assess what went wrong against the Clarets, knows that level of performance can ‘never happen again’ and Wolves need to step up massively for this one.

“There’s been a reaction, a bit of talking, speaking to each other about making sure it never happens again,” he said.

“It was unacceptable from our point of view. It was something where we know we have to improve.

“The whole season we’ve got to improve. It’s been a tough season for us all.

“I think if you look at the whole thing in general, it’s been a tough one but honestly, that can never happen again.

“It’s about the players on the pitch performing and making sure we perform to the standard that this football club requires.”

Coady added: “That was unacceptable for us, our supporters, for everybody at our football club and that’s not Wolves.

“That’s not what Wolves has been about over the last few years and it’s something that can never happen again.”
