Nuno: We want to give Wolves fans something to smile about
Boss Nuno Espirito Santo has promised Wolves will do everything they can to make supporters proud in tonight’s Black Country derby.
Wolves, having endured a season which has been low on highlights, are looking to pick up their first win at The Hawthorns in almost 25 years.
And Nuno is determined to lift the spirits of fans with a win over their fierce rivals.
“Every game is important to us and to our fans because we know our fans are committed to us,” he said.
“They feel our joys, they feel much more our unhappiness or sadness, so we are together on this because every game is important.
“Albion have a very strong squad and they have been showing that. We know that, and we have to prepare well.
“That’s what we’re going to do, prepare all our players to face a tough opponent.
“What I can promise and what we can promise to our fans is that we’re going to do everything we can to give them joy.
“And hopefully, we have them again soon because we feel their strength when they are behind us – and we miss that.”
It has been a week full of reflection as well as fierce preparation for Wolves after their 4-0 thrashing against Burnley.
On how he has dealt with the attention on him and his players, Nuno said: “Like always. Focus on my work and what we have to do.
“When people don’t talk about you it is because everything is OK. I address it through focus and dedication, trying to find why it happened and where it came from.
“You have to look at it and address it when you don’t do well.
“You lose 4-0 at home. You don’t play a good game. Offensively, you don’t do anything.
“Defensively, you are so poor. Of course, the question has to be raised.
“We make these questions amongst ourselves. It all starts from here.”
When asked what answers he has been given from his players, Nuno added: “Good answers.
“When you have a bad result, you know after a couple of days why this happened and move forward. You ask questions when your mind is clear, you have assumed your own responsibilities. Then you move forward.”
