Andy Thompson backing Wolves skipper Conor Coady for Euros
Former fans’ favourite Andy Thompson says Wolves skipper Conor Coady deserves his England place and sees ‘no reason’ why he cannot make the Euros squad.

Coady could feature for the Three Lions in tonight’s World Cup qualifier against San Marino at Wembley.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a dream international breakthrough at the back end of last year and Thompson, who made 451 appearances for Wolves, has backed him to carry on impressing.
“He’s done himself no harm when he’s played. He’s been consistent,” he said. “He’s taken his performances with Wolves into his international career.
“So, you’ve got your fingers crossed for him, hoping that he can establish his place in the squad for the Euros.
“He’s done well when he’s played and scored as well for England, which I’m sure he couldn’t believe at the time.
“But he’s there on merit. He deserves to be in there, and there’s no reason why he can’t go to the Euros along with everybody else.
“I know there’s the question of formation, but when he’s been called upon, he’s played well.”
Thompson feels Coady has been a consistent performer in a tough campaign for Wolves, too.
“It’s been a bit of a difficult season, but he’s one of the players where you know what you’re going to get from him,” added Thompson.
“You know that he’ll give 100 per cent and will always try do his best. He’s that vocal presence in the games – instructions being bellowed out to the others.
“And he’s done that for England as well. He hasn’t changed, which is great to see.
“It’s nice that he’s taken that from Wolves into the internationals as well, because that’s why he’s there in the first place. It’s about what he brings to the team, along with his playing ability.”
