Wolves’ jet-set off to join their countries

Wolves have had 10 players selected for international games – while Raul Jimenez will join up with Mexico purely for training purposes.

Compton is set to be a fairly quiet place over the next couple of weeks, with around half of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad heading away with their countries.

Jimenez, who is continuing his recovery from surgery on a fractured skull, will be involved in Mexico’s training camp in Wales for a few days.

Nuno said last week the plan was to send the striker ‘to see his friends’, and an agreement has been reached to allow him to train with them before their game in Cardiff next Saturday.

Wolves’ player of the season thus far, Pedro Neto has been included in the Portugal squad for their three World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan, Serbia and Luxembourg.

Gold and black team-mates Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio have also been selected, although it remains unclear whether the latter will go after his head injury against Liverpool last Monday.

The goalkeeper is not expected to face an extended spell on the sidelines but the Portugal games might come too soon.

Nelson Semedo has not made the Portugal squad this time, while Daniel Podence is also absent as he continues his recovery from an adductor problem.

Owen Otasowie has again been called up by the United States for two Europe-based friendlies, taking on Jamaica in Austria and Northern Ireland in Belfast.

He will hope to make his full USMNT debut, having grabbed his first cap as a substitute against Wales at the back end of last year.

Wolves skipper Conor Coady will be with England and, as usual, Leander Dendoncker has been included in the Belgium squad.

Romain Saiss and defensive partner Willy Boly will be involved in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for Morocco and Ivory Coast respectively, while Vitinha will be with Portugal Under-21s.

Not heading out this month, though, is Adama Traore having been left out of the Spain squad by Luis Enrique.

He will be working at Compton, along with Semedo, Podence, Jonny Castro Otto, John Ruddy, Ryan Ait-Nouri, Fernando Marcal, Ki-Jana Hoever, Max Kilman, Morgan Gibbs-White, Fabio Silva and Willian Jose.
