Star man Pedro Neto hails Wolves' teamwork after superb goal
Pedro Neto is ‘very happy’ and grateful for the support of his Wolves team-mates after his stunning winner at Southampton.
The Portuguese winger scored what will likely be looked back upon as Wolves’ goal of the season to complete a remarkable turnaround at St Mary’s on Sunday.
He now leads the way for them in terms of both goals and assists in the Premier League, with five and four respectively.
But Neto was keen to point out the group effort to beat the Saints 2-1 as he said: “I’m very happy and I have to thank my team-mates.
“I know that it’s not our best season, but we are trying to work and do a second half (of the season) that we won’t forget.
“We want to do better, and I have to thank my team-mates because the goals and assists are provided for them. We are very happy.”
After the FA Cup exit against Southampton last week, Wolves recovered from a poor first half on the south coast.
They are now 12th in the top flight and three games unbeaten.
On what changed after half-time, Neto said: “We changed a little bit our way of playing.
“Adama Traore was to the left side and me to the right side, to play more inside.
“It was more tactical, but winning the duels and being more aggressive was the most important thing in the second half.
“We have to take this second half as an example because it was a very good second half. We pressed high and had quality.
“We have to take it into the other games.”
Neto, who looks a shoo-in for Wolves’ player of the season, added: “I think it was a very poor first half from us. They were above us in winning the duels and being aggressive.
“But in the second half, we did a good response. We played like we always want to play. We worked hard, scored two goals, and we’re very happy.”
