Nuno: New deal shows Wolves' faith in Jonny Castro Otto

Otto, having just returned from several months out following knee surgery, has penned fresh terms until the summer of 2025.

And Nuno, whose side are preparing to host Southampton in the FA Cup fifth-round, says it is a reward for the immense work ethic the Spaniard has shown.

“It is not only Jonny, it is all the players,” he said.

“But it shows the real faith we have in Jonny because as a club, we decided to renew his contract even before he returned.

“So, that shows a lot of the relationship between the club and Jonny. Dedication and commitment are the right words.”

Otto played 45 minutes against Leicester last weekend and could feature against the Saints.

His return was quick as far as ACL surgeries go, having sustained the injury in August, but Nuno was not surprised by the speed of his comeback.

“No, not particularly, because we know Jonny,” he said. “Before he returned to the pitch, he had many, many minutes on the training ground.

“He has worked more than any other player because when a player is out, they usually work double than the others.

“He’s had to do his own programme and integrate into the sessions with the squad. He has his afternoon treatments.

“Jonny has been at it for 24 hours of 24 hours, preparing for his return. Thank God, it went perfect.”

Nuno, meanwhile, has revealed Raul Jimenez has had an ‘amazing’ consultation as he continues his recovery from a fractured skull.

He is expected to feature before the end of the season but contact training is still too soon.

On if Jimenez could wear protective head gear once back, Nuno added: “That’s not been discussed. Until that moment, we still have a lot of procedures to follow.

“Hopefully, it will not be required. It’s there and could be a solution, but not for now.”
