Wolves hero Steve Bull has urged new striker Willian Jose to stay level-headed and not get frustrated as he looks to get off the mark.

Jose was brought in last month to get the goals after Raul Jimenez’s injury and has impressed in his three outings thus far.

But with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side still looking for a real cutting edge going forward, having scored just 23 times in 22 Premier League games this term, 306-goal great Bull has told the Brazilian not to get despondent over the lack of clear-cut chances coming his way.

“I think he’s got something. You can tell with the way he strikes the ball, he puts his laces through it,” said Bull.

“He’s not had too many chances and it might take him a bit of time to get used to the pace of game in the Premier League – it took Jimenez a bit of time to start properly clicking.

“All he needs to do is make sure he doesn’t get frustrated.

“He’s a striker and he’ll love having shots at goal, but he’s not having too many at the moment.

“He’s having to do a lot of dog-work – holding it up, laying it off and flicking it on. So, I just hope he don’t get a bit fed up at not having lots of chances.

“He’s got to get his head down, knuckle down, and he’ll be a good asset for the rest of the season.”

Jose was signed on loan from Spanish club Real Sociedad, with the option to buy for £22million in the summer.

And Bull added: “He’s got a bit of experience, and a presence about him.

“I think he could be the one to get us these 1-0s, a bit like Jimenez used to do. As I say, he’s a good asset. I think the midfielders and defenders are pleased to have him, knowing he can hold the ball up.

“It’s about getting that one goal and, hopefully, the rest of the side will get to know his strengths and weaknesses, to start giving him more chances.”
