Steve Bull: Fabio Silva goal will do him the world of good
Fabio Silva has got his first Premier League goal for Wolves, and I am delighted for the young lad.
Him getting off the mark from the penalty spot was the big positive to come out of a bad night at Burnley.
When he got tripped in the box and then took on the responsibility, I had my fingers and toes crossed for him.
He tucked it away very well, and that will do his confidence a world of good ahead of tomorrow’s game against Tottenham.
Silva is only a teenager, of course, but he looks to have a mature head on his shoulders. Nothing seems to really faze him.
He could have given the penalty to somebody else but he was determined to open his account, so fair play to him for having that belief.
The 18-year-old, after all, will have been disappointed not to start at Turf Moor, although no places are a given.
His attitude was top-drawer, to come off the bench and prove a point.
To be fair, it was disappointing at Burnley. I thought we would go there and build on what we did against Chelsea, so I was surprised by the team selection.
Against the Blues, we held our own and came away with the win, and it is a shame we could not follow that up on Monday night.
But, ultimately, that is gone and now Spurs are coming to Molineux.
We all know what they are about, and Nuno knows Jose Mourinho on a personal level.
They are a top footballing side and very different to Burnley, whose route-one approach gave us problems.
You would imagine it will be a similar game to Chelsea, so fingers crossed the lads can repeat what they did against Frank Lampard’s side and give us all a belated Christmas gift.
Finally, I hope everyone is enjoying this festive period as best as they can under the circumstances.
Keep safe and have as good a time as possible.
