The 20-year-old midfielder – snapped up from Porto on a season-long loan with the option to buy next summer for around £18million – featured for James Collins' side at Selhurst Park after being left out of the last two first-team squads.

Senior professionals Martin Kelly, James Tomkins and Christian Benteke all started for the Eagles, and the latter put them ahead.

Vitinha was denied by a great save from Ollie Webber and straight up the other end on the stroke of half-time, ex-Villa striker Benteke slammed the ball home.

Palace then doubled their lead shortly after the interval as Scott Banks finished off a nice attacking move.

Wolves made their first change on the hour mark, bringing on Taylor Perry for Luke Cundle, and a goal soon followed.

Perry came up with an exquisite free-kick to put more pressure on the hosts, but they were able to see it through for the victory, leaving Wolves sixth in PL2 Division Two after six games.
