The Wolves skipper shone for the Three Lions on Thursday, scoring and wearing the captain’s armband for the last half-an-hour in the 3-0 victory over Wales at Wembley.

He has looked at home in both of his two appearances under Gareth Southgate so far, and he said: “First and foremost, it’s been brilliant.

“The last two camps I’ve enjoyed and comparing it back to Wolves, it’s something where we have really top, top players and the intensity is really, really high.

“To prepare myself for coming here has been great because the amount of talent and everything we’ve got at Wolves has been brilliant.

“Speaking about England now and being here, everything that comes with it has been absolutely incredible.

“I’m learning every time I come and that’s the most important thing.

“But in terms of comparing it Wolves, it’s been great because we’ve got some fantastic players at Wolves who I love playing with every single day as well.”

Coady became the first Wolves player to score for England since Steve Bull in 1990, and the first to wear the armband since Emlyn Hughes in 1980.

Southgate added: “He makes me feel good sat next to me. He has got that really infectious personality.

“I know he does not go up for set-plays for his club so he has obviously enjoyed that. I am sure he will go back and Nuno will never hear the last of it, probably.

“He ended up with the captain’s armband, and I would not have hesitated to give it to him from the start. But we felt Kieran (Trippier), as the most capped player and everything he has done for us, warranted that accolade.”
