Nuno Espirito Santo, having committed his future to the club over the summer, did not feel the need to make any late moves and is focused on continuing to sort deals for his key players.

With a large chunk of players now away on international duty, it was a quiet final day of the transfer window at Compton, with no deals worked on.

The only piece of business was the official departure of Ruben Vinagre, on an initial loan deal to Olympiacos having travelled to Greece and completed a medical over the weekend.

It is understood Wolves have received a nominal loan fee for the Portuguese wing-back ahead of a potential £22.5million permanent move to the Greek champions next summer.

Olympiacos are also believed to be paying his wages in full.

Fringe players Ryan Bennett, Oskar Buur and Roderick Miranda were unable to secure moves before the 11pm deadline, but they still have a chance to get game time elsewhere as the domestic window remains open until October 16.

Wolves were in talks with Dutch second-tier side FC Volendam over a potential loan switch for Buur, but now the aim is to get him out playing regular football on these shores. Youngsters such as defender Dion Sanderson and striker Niall Ennis are others who could make moves in the next week or so.

The club are not expected to attempt to make any more significant additions in the domestic window, having brought in six players over the summer – Fabio Silva, Fernando Marcal, Vitinha, Ki-Jana Hoever, Nelson Semedo and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

They could sign players from the Championship or below until 5pm a week on Friday but will not do so barring a serious injury to one of the international players, with the onus on getting players out for much-needed minutes

One of those away with their country at the moment is winger Traore, with the Spaniard thought to be due to enter talks over a new contract at Molineux.

Wolves have already tied down captain Conor Coady and star striker Raul Jimenez in recent weeks, and Traore looks set to follow suit. His current deal runs until 2023 after signing from Middlesbrough for £18m in 2018.

Meanwhile, former Wolves man Bright Enobakhare has had his contract at AEK Athens cancelled by mutual consent.

The 22-year-old Nigerian only joined them in June following his Molineux release but has now left after just one appearance.

A statement from AEK Athens read: “AEK announces the mutually agreed termination of its contract with the Nigerian midfielder, Bright Enobakhare, and wishes him good luck in the next stage of his football career.”
