Having lost three games in all competitions coming into the clash, Wolves were tentative in the opening stages of the game against a struggling Fulham side.

Pedro Neto’s first goal of the campaign was enough to earn the points after the visitors spurned several late chances and when asked if he was pleased with the result, Nuno said: “Not quite, I don’t think it was so compact in defence and not quite creative in attack, I think we should improve.

“I want to see what’s missing, sharper and we need to pass the ball faster. We need to control the ball and we must win duels.

“A lot of things to improve. I think we bounced back and did a lot of good things today, defensively higher up the pitch, more compact.

“But after the goal we should manage better with more possession, we didn’t have possession of the ball that calms down the game.

“A lot of work in front of us, a lot of improvement.

“It’s easy to see, the disruption of everything.

“All the teams are tired, they have problems, disruptions. The schedulem we had players out with the national teams without preparation.

“They were forced to play games. Some of them with two, three days of training. All the teams need time to work.”

Meanwhile, Nuno has confirmed that left-wing-back Ruben Vinagre will depart for Olympiacos before the transfer deadline and will be replaced by Angers youngster Rayan Ait-Nouri - as he insists their focus now is on retaining the stars at the club.

“I can confirm that Vinagre is going to join Olympiacos,” he added.

“If it’s not done, it’s almost done, that’s why he was not in the squad.

“You will get the official decision but it’s obvious that we need to balance our squad. Rayan is going to join us.

“You never know. Now I’m worried, these deadline moments you need to be ready for anything. Anyone can come, it’s not about who is coming in, it’s about nobody coming out.

“This is what worries me the most.”

One star that Wolves have retained is Raul Jimenez who signed a new deal on Saturday until 2024 - a move Nuno was pleased to see after previously having captain Conor Coady commit his future to the club.

“It’s very important. Not only for Raul, but Conor and more to come,” Nuno said.

“The commitment of the players in the club, that makes us stronger.

“Raul is happy here and he’s a fantastic player so we are very pleased to have him around for a while.”
