Nelson Semedo: Nuno a draw for me at Wolves
Wolves right-wing-back Nelson Semedo insists the draw of playing for Nuno Espirito Santo was a major factor in him swapping Barcelona for Wolverhampton.
The 26-year-old joined the Premier League last week, in time to make his debut in the 4-0 loss to West Ham on Sunday.
Alongside the draw of boss Nuno, the Portuguese defender insists familiar faces at the club also played a part in his decision to join.
"It influenced me because they are top players that I know and that I am with many times in the national team.
"I was with Raul (Jimenez) in Benfica as well and yes, these people helped me make a decision, but I also know that Wolverhampton is a great team, a very important team in the UK and in Europe as well, where it is growing quite a lot.
"I am another player to help the team and I hope we can play a fantastic season.
"He (Nuno) was also important because I felt I would be valued here.
"I felt that Nuno really wanted me here and it is also very important to know that there are people who value you like you deserve.
"That also influenced my decision quite positively.
"I am settling in just fine. I think my teammates are helping me a lot with that. We also have a big Portuguese representation here which makes the process much easier.
"But the rest of the team has helped me a lot as well and I think it has been easy (to settle in) and I’ve been enjoying quite a lot this one and a half week that I have been here."
Having swapped the sunshine of Spain for the Black Country, Semedo admits it has been a 'different' experience to what he is used to – but one he is embracing.
"In these last couple of years Wolves have played two very good championships in the Premier League – I hope this year we can play even better," he added.
"And I hope we can score enough goals to take the team to the level it deserves to be in.
"It (the city) is a little bit different from Barcelona at least when it comes to the weather. It is different, it is different. It is colder over here.
"I still haven’t had the chance to visit the city but it is a bit different from what I was used to, but I am sure I will fit in rather quickly.
"I know the main places in town, and I will ask my teammates and try to ask the staff places to visit, schools for my kids and I will easily adapt to the city."
