Wolves' Adama Traore awaits second result after testing positive for Covid-19
Wolves’ Adama Traore is awaiting the results of a second coronavirus test after returning a positive result ahead of international duty with Spain.
Wolves are also hoping for clarity as they look to ascertain whether the winger will have to self-isolate in Spain ahead of returning for the new Premier League season.
Traore was called up to Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for games against Germany and Ukraine in the Nations League, but he tested positive ahead of joining up with his international team-mates.
That left him unable to link up with the squad, in line with Uefa protocols, and he took another test today to determine whether it was a ‘false positive’ recording.
Wolves are now waiting for more information. If the second test comes back negative, Traore will be allowed into the group ahead of a potential first Spain cap.
If positive again, though, it will be another setback for the 24-year-old, who had to pull out with an injury following his previous call-up last November.
Wolves begin the new Premier League season at Sheffield United a week on Monday, so another positive test would also make his availability for that unclear. It is said that you should self-isolate for at least 10 days upon testing positive.
Wolves, though, will take into account the fact they were able to bring Daniel Podence back into the fold earlier than planned towards the end of last season.
He had returned to Portugal for an important personal issue and was having to self-isolate for 14 days upon his return as the country was not then on the travel corridor list.
After testing negative for Covid-19 twice though, Wolves were given the green light to include him in the squad again.
Meanwhile, Wolves midfielder Bruno Jordao is attracting loan interest from Portugal – but no firm decision has yet been made over whether to send him out.
Portuguese outlet Record have said Famalicao are closing in on a loan move for the 21-year-old.
But the Express & Star understands Wolves are currently weighing up what is best for the youngster, who arrived at Molineux last summer with compatriot Pedro Neto in a double-deal from Lazio.
Jordao scored in his Wolves debut against Reading in the Carabao Cup last season and, in total, made four appearances in 2019/20.
Wolves have already loaned out Morgan Gibbs-White to Swansea and sold Matt Doherty to Tottenham for £15million.
