Chelsea 2 Wolves 0 – Player ratings
Joe Edwards rates the players after Wolves end the Premier League season with a 2-0 loss at Chelsea.
Rui Patricio
Ends the season with a very solid 13 clean sheets. Would have loved to make it 14 here but was beaten twice by well-taken goals.
Mount’s free-kick was way beyond his reach while Giroud coolly rounded the Portuguese. 6
Willy Boly
Back on the right of the defensive three, Boly did not do too badly.
Tricky winger Pulisic was kept fairly quiet by the Frenchman. He was still caught out of position a couple of times, though. 6
Conor Coady
Has played every minute of Wolves’ past two seasons in the Premier League, which is an amazing achievement.
This was not his best game, though, and he was poor as Chelsea made it 2-0 through Giroud. 5
Romain Saiss
Brought back in after Dendoncker played in defence against Palace, Saiss made no obvious mistakes.
The Moroccan was a little sloppy in possession, though. 6
Matt Doherty
Making his 300th Wolves appearance, Doherty started brightly and helped win a couple of early corners.
His attacking impact waned as he ended up being taken off. Steady enough defensively. 6
Leander Dendoncker
A bit surprising to see him given the nod ahead of Moutinho in midfield.
Dendoncker did not exactly shine, but the Belgian covered quite a lot of ground and made some good tackles to win back possession. 6
Ruben Neves
Similarly to Dendoncker, Neves won the ball back on a few occasions and displayed his flair once or twice.
Overall, though, he would have wanted more control in midfield. 6
Jonny Castro Otto
Given a tough time by the Blues, it must be said.
Mount, James and Azpilicueta all surged down the right flank, with Otto struggling to cope before he went off. 5
Pedro Neto
Harshly deemed to have fouled Alonso as Chelsea took the lead through Mount.
Had a couple of moments but, overall, will be disappointed not to have done more. Then taken off for Traore. 5
Raul Jimenez
Wanted to end the Premier League season with another goal but was barely involved.
Often found himself isolated against Chelsea's three-man defence, and the Mexican did not have any proper chances to score. 5
Diogo Jota
Not really been himself since the restart, and Jota was far from his best here.
Booked early on for a late lunge on Azpilicueta and was often crowded out by the Blues. A shot straight at Caballero was as good as it got for him. 5
Subs
Adama Traore (for Neto, 46)
Made a few nice runs down the right. 6
Daniel Podence (for Doherty, 59)
Not too many touches. 5
Joao Moutinho (for Neves, 59)
Game was already gone. 5
Ruben Vinagre (for Otto, 59)
Same as the others. 5
Bruno Jordao (for Jota, 85)
