Nuno – currently the only BAME manager in the Premier League – has been ‘very pleased’ with the support that the Black Lives Matter movement has gained worldwide.

Players from Villa and Sheffield United created a powerful image by taking a knee, along with referee Michael Oliver, on Wednesday night.

And Wolves and the Hammers are going to follow suit at the London Stadium as Nuno said: “They will do so, both teams.

“I’m very pleased and I think football should take as many chances as they have, with this movement.

“The players are doing this with their own individual platforms, but it’s a social problem.

“It’s about everybody. Changing feelings and cultures will take time.”

Nuno has also been happy with the way Wolves have dealt with the coronavirus crisis.

He says everyone has been proactive – noting that the Europa League trip to Espanyol in late February was when you could sense things were changing.

“I think we were aware and we started to take preventative measures in every moment of our lives,” said Nuno. “Even when we went to Spain, we could see we were in a different mindset.

“I think we anticipated what was coming and when the situation happened, we dealt with it very well as a club.

“The medical department was amazing, how they helped us prepare and adjust to the protocols.

“The fundraising we’ve been able to do and the support from Fosun in our community, we’ll keep doing as more help will be needed.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to increase the number in our bubble and still have negative tests.

“It’s about being responsible and hopefully we can continue like that as it’s not over yet.”

One disappointing moment was when midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White was filmed breaking lockdown rules at a house party – but Nuno has forgiven the player as ‘everybody needs and deserves a second chance’.
