Wolves' Conor Coady lifts lid on individual training and Project Restart talks

Wolves skipper Conor Coady has offered a detailed insight into how individual training at Compton works – and says Project Restart discussions have been 'fantastic'.

Since the beginning of this week, Nuno Espirito Santo's squad have reported to the training base every day as they step up their fitness levels.

They are all due to be tested for Covid-19 early next week, too, and on the logistics of it all, Coady told Sky Sports: "Four players at a time, on a pitch each.

"You've got your coach in the middle and he's obviously got a mask on and gloves – 20, 30 or 40 yards away from you, shouting what he wants from you.

"You get an hour slot, so, for example, if you're in at 9am you've got until 10am.

"You just walk around to the pitch as you're not allowed into the building. It's something where they're trying to keep you out of the building.

"They take your temperature when you go in and then we're going to be tested (for coronavirus) in the next few days.

"It's tough because we're not allowed to use cones, poles, mannequins or goals – we've got to bring our own ball which then gets cleaned.

"We understand the situation, you're following markings on the floor – running from this circle to that circle. It's non-stop running and it's tough."

The situation is certainly a lot different from what the Wolves stars are used to – but Coady insists everyone is comfortable with it, trusting in the advice of club doctor Matt Perry.

"We've all got 100 per cent trust in our doctor. He's explained the situation to us and as long as we are following protocols – social distancing and the safety measures in place – he's saying everything will be OK," said Coady.

"If he's saying that, us at Wolves will go along with it."

Wolves, of course, are still waiting for a date as to when the Premier League will resume, and when the Europa League will restart too.

League chiefs are due to meet again next week on the matter and have until May 25 – a deadline set by Uefa – to make a decision on the rest of the campaign.

Coady, as Wolves skipper, has been heavily involved with the Premier League's Project Restart talks over the past few weeks.

And while wanting a concrete date after months without playing, as the majority do, he says the talks have been 'brilliant' thus far.

"It's been fantastic, honestly, coming together quite often to try to move this situation forward," said Coady.

"I think it's a situation where everyone wants to move forward. We know how tough it is, how Covid is affecting certain families – it's absolutely horrible.

"But in terms of dialogue, it's been brilliant and something I've been proud to be a part of.

"Hopefully, we can move forward and the Premier League will do what they need to do to move things forward.

"I can understand the different points of view. We've all got families and people will make their own decisions."

Coady, who helped Wolves rise to sixth in the table by playing every minute of every league game before football was suspended, added: "It's such a cautious situation.

"We all want that date to say Wolves are playing whoever on June 12 or 13, we're all looking forward to it, but we realise as human beings that this is such a tough situation that we're in. I think it's important we take little steps at a time."
